My journey into writing
For me, writing has always been a compelling force, an intrinsic need for emotional or expressive release which most often manifests itself in rhyming poetry. It's a natural inclination that has guided my literary path from the very beginning.
The art of rhyming poetry
Most of us embark on our literary journeys through nursery rhymes and song lyrics. This early exposure, I believe, is why a strong meter in rhyming statements can forge such a profound connection with the reader. Enjoyment is often amplified by a twist in the tale or an element of surprise, which I strive to incorporate, or at least a compelling kicker in the final lines.
What's next for Owen Ames?
Some poems feel truly inspired, almost writing themselves or appearing seamlessly from the ether. Conversely, many others are the product of stubborn determination, developed over many iterations and months from initial seed ideas into satisfactory offerings. I am currently "incubating" what I hope will soon become a second commentary volume, tentatively titled "Life In Re-Verse." Beyond that, I have a pressing project for a new children's book and lingering ideas for a 'proper' novel. Please wish me luck and watch this space!
